Mark Birnbaum and Eugene Remm Host Michael Capponi’s Birthday and Fundraiser Event

Mark Birnbaum and Eugene Remm of EMM Group are known for throwing the industry’s most lavish parties and transforming the hospitality industry in New York City with venues like Catch, Abe & Arthur’s and SL. When Michael Capponi, one of the most well-known names in South Beach nightlife, decided to throw a birthday party benefit, it only seemed fitting that Mark Birnbaum and business partner Eugene Remm lent a hand to co-host the extravagant event, contributing to an amazing evening for a good cause.

Michael Capponi donated all proceeds from the event to his personal endeavor, “Haiti Empowerment Mission”. The non-profit organization was founded to help revive the suffering economy in Haiti after the devastating earthquake back in 2010.

Alongside Mark Birnbaum and Eugene Remm to support the benefit was Richie Akiva and Ronnie Madra of Butter Group, Valmira Mavraj and Sarah Bromley of VIEvents, Jeffrey Jah and Mark Baker of The Double Seven. The official hosts of the event were Donna Karan and Maria Bello.

The night kicked off with a VIP cocktail hour and a silent auction where art work by Peter Tunney and Phillip Dodard were up for bid, as well as luxurious exclusive events with Michael Capponi himself. The night brought out the most glamorous of celebrities, hospitality industry mainstays and the town’s most beautiful models.

Despite their hectic schedules, Mark Birnbaum and Eugene Remm always find the time to contribute to a good cause. The evening was a huge success. In addition to being an enjoyable evening out, featuring a spontaneous carnival theme, over $120,000 was raised for Michael Capponi’s charity for Haiti.

Mark Birnbaum: The Hospitality Industry’s Most In-Demand Business Mogul



Mark Birnbaum is one of today’s most in-demand hospitality industry leaders. From promotions and parties, to managing top-notch restaurants and nightclubs in the heart of New York City, Mark Birnbaum has built himself an empire.

Mark Birnbaum started his career in the hospitality industry in 1998 when he worked as a promotions director for a 22,000 square foot venue in Ithica, New York. While Mark Birnbaum worked tirelessly to manage and promote special events, he was earning a name for himself in the industry. In 2002 Mark branched out on his own, founding a nightlife consulting company called Operative Inc., in order to launch Lobby, his first chic midtown Manhattan nightclub. The opening of Lobby in 2003 was one of the most successful in nightlife history.



Hungering for more success, Birnbaum took on another job overseeing the marketing, public relations, promotions and major events for AER Lounge. After Mark Birnbaum took over, AER Lounge was named one of the top picks for nightclubs in the world (and number one in Manhattan) by Condenast Traveler.

Remm met after throwing rival parties to celebrate their June 10th birthdays. The two collaborated to form EMM Group, a hospitality company, which led to opening their first venue as business partners. Tenjune was opened in 2006 and was another huge success on Birnbaum’s resume.



Since 2006, EMM Group welcomed business partner Eugene Remm and opened several more venues. To date, EMM Group opened Tenjune, The Chandelier Room, SL NYC, SL East, Catch NYC, Abe & Arthur’s, and Lexington Brass. They are continuing to grow their brand by bringing their most popular venues to Miami. Catch Miami and SL South are expected to open next door to one another this Fall in the James Royal Palm, at the same time the trio will be launching a new chic space at 199 Bowery in the Meatpacking District. Additionally Mark Birnbaum and Eugene Remm are co-producing a reality show called “The Kings of New York” which is also set to premiere this fall.

Mark Birnbaum and Eugene Remm Entering the Show Biz

Just when you think EMM Group owners Mark Birnbaum and Eugene Remm couldn’t take on many more projects, we find out they are entering the show biz, the reality-show biz to be exact. Mark Birnbaum and Eugene Remm are perhaps the most in demand business moguls today.

To date, EMM Group is busy managing their exceptionally successful restaurants and honing New York (and New Jersey) nightlife with Abe & Arthur’s, Catch NYC, Lexington Brass, SL, Tenjune and The Chandelier Room, all while renovating their new hot spots, Catch Miami, and 199 Bowery in the Meatpacking District. Also on EMM Group’s daily checklist, running Four Hundred, a lifestyle and management company, and preparing for this season’s hottest parties at The Estate, located in the Hamptons. Mark Birnbaum and Eugene Remm have a very impressive portfolio and always manage to come out on top.


Birnbaum and Remm’s newest venture entails co-producing a reality TV series called “Kings of New York” with friend Tim Kash, a well-known host on MTV Europe. The baseline for the series is a group of young people pursuing their careers in New York. “Kings of New York” will show the struggle to make it in modeling, nightlife promotion, fashion, hairstyling and other professions. While Mark Birnbaumand Eugene Remm will not appear on camera, their venues will feature as backgrounds for some of the scenes. Filming started this week and is expected to debut this fall on AXS channel, previously HD Net, which is now co-owned by Ryan Seacrest.

The Moguls Behind EMM Group

Mark Birnbaum, Eugene Remm and Michael Hirtenstein make up EMM Group, New York City’s leading hospitality company. This trio is a power force in the hospitality industry. Michael Hirtenstein was the president and chief executive officer at WestCom Corporation since 1992. He founded the company and funded it all on his own. His company was one of the premier point-to-point dedicated private line providers to the financial community. He ended up selling the company in 2008 and quickly joined forces with Mark Birnbaum and Eugene Remm in EMM Group.
